Professor Rosemary Collier FRES

The Royal Entomological Society is delighted that two outstanding entomologists have been named in the 2025 UK New Year Honours List. 

Professor Lin Field, Honorary Fellow and former President of the Royal Entomological Society, has been awarded a CBE. Lin is an insect molecular biologist, formerly the Head of Bio-interactions and Crop Protection at Rothamsted Research and is currently a Professor Emerita. Aside from her role as President of the Society, Lin oversaw the RES journal portfolio for a number of years in her role as a trustee and currently sits on the Society’s finance committee. 

For her pioneering work in horticultural science, Professor Rosemary Collier FRES was awarded an OBE. Rosemary is an entomologist as applied ecologist based at the Warwick Crop Centre, University of Warwick. Rosemary’s research focuses on sustainable pest management in horticultural crops, using methods that minimise ecological impact. Rosemary has been involved with the RES for over forty years and was a guest speaker at the Student Forum in 2017. 

As champions of women in Entomology, the RES is incredibly proud to celebrate such prestigious awards for members of our community.
