Big Give – April 2023 results

A massive thank you to all who donated to the Big Give Green Match Fund campaign.

During the week of 20-27 April, we worked with Big Give, offering us the fantastic opportunity to double all public donations received in support of our #RESGarden project, designed to inspire everyone to learn more about insects 🦋

With your help, we have raised £10,322 in total for our amazing scientific public resource which will provide a comprehensive multi-year education and outreach programme using the garden’s outdoor laboratory and natural resources in the garden, allowing for academic research and schools to visit and for the local community to enjoy the garden year-round.

An excellent result and we are so thankful!

We’re very excited to let you know that the Royal Entomological Society have been selected to take part in The Big Green Match.

During the week of 20-27 April, we’re working with Big Give, the leading online match funding platform that runs campaigns to make an extraordinary difference to the world’s big challenges

Together with Big Give, we are now asking for your generous donations to support the relocation and outreach programme of our #RESGarden to the IQL near the Olympic Park in Stratford, London.

Thanks to the generous funding and support from Project Giving Back, we are working with award-winning designer Tom Massey to create a garden for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show that will provide an inspiring place where insects can be studied and observed in a beautiful and natural environment.

After RHS Chelsea, the #RESGarden will be relocated to its permanent home at IQL in Stratford, London and will be available as a vital outreach space for us allowing local communities, partners and people of all ages to observe and research the wonders of insects and their environment.

We now have the opportunity to raise £10,000 from public donations which will be doubled by Big Give, raising £20,000 in total for this amazing #RESGarden resource.

Our garden aims to inspire future generations of entomologists and scientists, but also to provide local wildlife to an urban garden space that offers food and shelter year-round due to its insect friendly planting scheme and layout with water elements and different habitats. As the garden reaches its permanent home, we intend to launch a comprehensive multi-year education and outreach programme using the garden’s outdoor laboratory and natural resources in the garden, allowing for academic research and schools to visit and for the local community to enjoy the garden year-round
