About the Series

The RES Insect Identification Handbooks are an established, well-respected series of insect identification guides which have been published since 1949. We have recently partnered with CABI as our publisher. Whilst the majority of our content will remain UK focussed, we expanded the scope of the series to include insect groups from anywhere in the world, not just UK based taxa.

About you

We are looking for a new Series Editor to oversee the continued growth of the series. The Series Editor will work with the editorial board and RES and CABI staff, so we are looking for taxonomist with an interest in books and publishing. We do not expect the series editor to be an expert in all insect taxa.

Applications are welcome from insect taxonomists with expertise in any taxa and with a good knowledge of UK groups. The ideal candidate will be able to enthusiastically communicate about the series with potential authors and readers. They will also be able to make clear decisions, based on expert advice, and act with integrity during the editorial process.

This is a voluntary role for three years initially, and can be renewed for additional three-year periods. The Series Editor will report to and attend the RES Publications Committee. The RES will cover the cost of their attendance at our annual conference, Ento, and the Series Editor can request funding for other relevant conferences to the Series. They will also have access to ebook versions of all digitised Handbooks via CABI for the duration of their term.
