Fellows and Members can vote for a new Trustee to chair the RES Membership Committee

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Trustee to join the RES team and Chair the Membership Committee from September 2023. The elected Trustee will serve a four-year term and help build an exciting future for the Society and achieve its purpose to improve and communicate entomology.
The Chair of the Membership Committee will provide strategic leadership, advising Council on membership-related matters, and enhancing the Society’s services and benefits for our members. Additionally, the elected candidate will be responsible for fostering communication with entomologists and members, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and driving new member and fellow recruitment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of the Society and ensuring its vision to enrich the world with insect science becomes a reality. This position combines the responsibilities of being a trustee on RES Council and leading the Membership Committee alongside senior staff.
We believe that a diverse and engaged leadership team is crucial for driving the RES forward, and your vote will help determine the right candidate for this important role. Trustees ensure that the Society operates in the public benefit, complies with its bye-laws and the law, acts in the Society’s best interests, and manages resources responsibly for the benefit of its members and the entomological community.

Aparna Kalawate
I would like to create an impact by disseminating the information related to entomological sciences through the Royal Entomological Society, a prestigious and the oldest Society in entomology. Already the Society is doing well but there is always scope for improvement. I am married to Entomology.
Walter Leal
I co-chaired the 2016 International Congress of Entomology in Orlando, Fla., one of entomology’s most prominent events, and served as ISCE president, among other leadership activities. I can provide a global perspective to RES membership activities that promote diversity and inclusivity.
How to cast your vote:
- You will need your membership number in order to vote . You can find your membership number on correspondence, in your account under ‘My Profile‘ or by emailing the RES team: info@royensoc.co.uk. If you do not enter this on your voting form, your vote will not be counted. This will be used to validate your ballot before votes are counted anonymously.
- Click the ‘Vote now‘ button below to fill a form and cast your vote for the candidate of your choice.
- Please only submit your vote once.
The chosen Trustee will be elected at the AGM on 5 September, following online voting by the members and fellows of the Royal Entomological Society – Online voting information has been emailed to the Membership and put on the website on 31 July 2023. Voting will close on 29 August 2023.
Candidates will be notified of the results before the AGM. Council (the board of trustees) will announce the results at the AGM on 5 September.

Successful candidate will start their role as Trustee and Chair of Membership Committee at the next AGM on 5 September 2023.
