Regional Representative - North England
Dr Barbara J Tigar DIC FHEA FRES is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Environmental Biology and Ecology at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston. Her interests include insect ecology and conservation biology and her research has focused on forensic, urban, stored product and arid zone insects. She has worked as an entomologist and ecologist in the UK, Lesotho, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates and on projects that investigate the role of insects and birds in natural and anthropogenic environments, the relationship between humans and wildlife and evaluating good practice in teaching ecology.
She has been the RES Northern Rep since August 2022. She co-hosted a regional meeting at Manchester Museum in 2024 and is keen to hear from anyone in Northern England who would like to get involved in further regional meetings. She is particularly keen to encourage early career entomologists to participate in regional events, as contributors and organisers, and participants.
If you live or work in Northern England and have an idea for a regional meeting at a place of general interest to entomologists, such as your place of work or study, a museum or field site, please contact Barbara to discuss this, and see how we can collaborate and take this forward.
