Year of Honorary Fellowship, 2020
Professor Hassell’s research interests are in the population ecology of animals, particularly of insects. Using mathematical modelling, fieldwork and laboratory experiments to examine population processes, he focuses on the dynamics of insect populations and he has a particular interest in the study of insect host-parasitoid interactions.
Professor Hassell was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1987 and appointed Commander of the British Empire in 2002.
